How many GCCs are there in India?
India has 2,533 Global Capability Centres as of 6 October 2026, on the GCCPROs verified count. The most widely quoted industry figure, from the nasscom and Zinnov India GCC Landscape report, is 2,117 GCCs operating 3,728 units in FY26. Both describe the same industry. They were counted at different times, and they count slightly different things.
Which Indian cities have the most GCCs?
Bengaluru has the most, with 1,384 (54.6% of India’s total). Six cities hold most of India’s GCCs, and 57 Indian cities have at least one.
Why do sources give different numbers?
Three ordinary reasons, and none of them means anyone is wrong.
| Source | India figure | What it counts |
|---|---|---|
| GCCPROs verified database | 2,533 | Each GCC once for India, updated 6 October 2026 |
| nasscom and Zinnov | 2,117 GCCs, 3,728 units | India GCC Landscape report, FY26 |
| JLL | Over 2,500 expected | A projection in its India GCC guide, 2026 |
- The date. The industry is adding centres every month. A report finalised for a financial year will be lower than a count taken in September 2026.
- The definition. Sources draw the line differently on what qualifies as a GCC, for example on the smallest centres and on how units inside a larger group are treated.
- Companies or units. nasscom and Zinnov report 2,117 GCCs but 3,728 units, because many GCCs run several sites. GCCPROs counts each GCC once for India; the 880 GCCs with offices in more than one city appear once in each of those city figures.
How the GCCPROs number is built
Every centre in the GCCPROs database is verified individually, with up to 46 fields held per centre: location, parent company, industry, the work the centre runs, headcount band, maturity, year established and leadership.
A GCC with offices in more than one city is counted in each of those cities, so the city figures add up to more than the national total. Every city, region and country total counts each GCC only once. The figures on this page are rebuilt from the live database every night, so they always match the database, the GCC India Atlas and every other page on this site.
99% are owned outright
Of the 2,428 Indian centres with a recorded setup model, 2,399 are captives the parent company owns. 21 are recorded as Build-Operate-Transfer.
62% employ 500 or fewer
Of the centres with a known headcount band. 108 employ more than 5,000 people.
47% own real work
Of the centres with a recorded maturity level, 47% are Gen 3 or Gen 4: they own a product, an engineering charter or a global process end to end.
